YOUTH POWER-III ; Pujya Gurudev

HISTORY IS WITNESS TO THE YOUTH POWER
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
The history of India’s freedom movement also bears testimony to this pioneering role of the youth. Right since 1857 upto 1947 the youth of the country played a leading role in instilling among the masses the feeling of patriotism and the urge for liberation. Among the heroes of the first war of independence of 1857 Rani Lakshmibai, Tatya Tope, Mangal Pande – all were young. Lakshmibai was only 26 then.
A brave soldier in her army Jhalkaribai was also a young girl. The Rani’s inspiration transformed even dancers like Sunder-Munder, Juhi, Motibai into brave warriors. Later on many leaders who devoted their whole lives to the cause of liberation – Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru – had all stepped on this thorny path of struggle and suffering with the onset of their youth.Martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Khudiram Bose and may others sacrificed their lives in the prime of youth to free their countrymen from the shackles of bondage. When Khudiram Bose was being taken to the gallows his parting words were:
“Hansi hansi chadbe phansi, dekhile jagatvasi Ek bar vidai de ma, Ami ghure asi”
[ Meaning – The world will see that I wore the noose gladly. O Motherland! Bid me farewell now. I will take birth again and again.]
The heartthrob of the nation’s youth, the flag bearer of the spiritual legacy Swami Vivekanand was very young too. He exhorted the young – “O brave hearts! O young progeny of our motherland! Realize that you have taken birth to accomplish many great tasks. Be not fearful of anything. Be not scared of even the loudest thunderbolts from the heavens. Arise! Gird up your loins and get to work.” This steely mantra of Swamiji is for all times and ages. The youth of today should take inspiration from and emulate the great personages of the past.

YOUTH POWER : Pujya Gurudev

HISTORY IS WITNESS TO THE YOUTH POWER
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
Maharishi Vyas dedicated his whole life to the dissemination of knowledge. He had resolved to do so in his young age itself. It was the age of ignorance and cynicism. Knowledge was restricted to the privileged few. Inspired by Maharishi Dadhyanga Atharvan, Vyas along with his wife Vatika, committed himself to fight against this great crisis of all pervading ignorance. Systematization of the Vedic literature, writing of Puranas, philosophical commentaries - all these great works were done by him single-handedly. Later his young son Shukdev and disciples like Gemini and Sut-Shaunak joined him in this mega project. Sut-Shaunak, through the medium of their puranic stories, were able to liberate the common man’s mind from the shackles of many kinds of the then prevalent superstitions and misconceptions.
After the Mahabharat war the nation was once again engulfed by the dark clouds of ignorance, divisions and irrational beliefs. Then a young Siddhartha and Vardhman rose to the occasion. Relinquishing every royal luxury and comfort they chose the ascetic path of tap and brought about a unique social and intellectual revolution in the country. While Siddhartha became the Buddha, Vardhaman became Mahavir (the great conqueror) – the 24 thTirthankar of Jainism. At their call countless young men and women woke up and started awakening others. Not only India but the whole of Asia lit up with the dazzle of enlightenment. This tradition was carried forward by the young Acharya Shankar. The crisis of his time was that the country was divided into diverse sects, tantricpractices and irrational beliefs. The Acharya united the whole country with the thread of his advaita doctrine. Every nook and corner of the country began to glow with the light of this knowledge. Many young men and women – Padmapad, Sureshwar, Bharati, Karnika and others– played their roles in this monumental work of the great Acharya.
In subsequent moments of crises Ramanuja, Madhva, Nimbarka and Vallabha dedicated their youth towards resolving them. Gorakhnath too was a young ascetic who exhorted the young generation to build strong character through the power of yoga. By popularizing Hathayoga he brought about a revolution in health consciousness and character building during his time. In mediaeval ages Kabir and Raidas carried forward and nurtured this tradition. Among the Sikh gurus, be it the first guru Nanakdev or the tenth guru Govind Singh, they were young when they generated a new vigor in the country through their tap and valor. Samartha Ramdas, who inspired young Shivaji to take up cudgels against the Mughal atrocities, had started his crusade for restoration of the glory of Sanatan Dharma when he was quite young.

YOUTH POWER : Pujya Gurudev

HISTORY IS WITNESS TO THE YOUTH POWER
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
Since the ancient times it is the youth power that has always boldly stood up to the challenges and crises that have raised their ominous heads from time to time. Whenever dark clouds have hovered over the nation and mankind, the young blood has cut through and scattered them with it valor. The Vedic and Upanishadic stories amply bear out this truth.
Rishi Vamdeva and Somsrava who led the peoples’ awakening were young. So were Saytakam and Sukesha who gladly sacrificed the carnal pleasures of young age to spread the light of noble thoughts and wisdom among the populace. The young Parashuram put an end to the reign of terror of Kartvirya who was considered invincible. Parashuram is said to have organized twenty one campaigns to cleanse the earth of evil and injustice. Agastya, who shielded the Arya culture from the rampaging squads of dasyus (demonic forces) was a young man too. He compelled the Vindhyagiri Mountain to submit before his valor.
The young Vishwarath undertook great penance to instill the potency of the Gayatri mantra in people’s consciousness. His supreme effort for public weal earned him the epithet “Vishwamitra” (friend of the world) and made him venerable. Bhagirath was in the prime of his youth when he ventured on the impossible looking task of bringing the holy Ganga on earth in order to make the earth green again after she had suffered long on account of draught conditions. It was young Ram who had started on the long course of journey to put an end to the demonic stranglehold of all-conquering Ravana. Guided by Maharishi Vishwamitra and Agastya, Ram was able to defeat Ravana, the sole super power of the age. He turned this expedition into a popular movement by bringing within its fold Kol, Kirat, Shabar, Nishad and many other tribes.
Prahalad, who opposed his tyrannical and arrogant father Hiranyakashyapu, was only a young boy. He remained unwavering on his righteous path in the face of wrathful Hiranyakashyapu, who had vanquished even Indra. Prahlad placed righteousness and public well-being above personal relationship and became instrumental in solving the big problem of the time through the mechanism of Narsimha Avtar. The organizers of mass awakening against the wickedness of Kans were again adolescents, Krishna and Balram. Krishna not only ended the misrule of Kans but was also successful in transforming and energizing the rural India of the time. Later, with the help of the Pandavas he ushered in a major revolution which resulted in the elimination of stubborn autocrats like Jarasandha and Duryodhan, and in the establishment of a new benign political system.

Emotions – II; Pujya Gurudev

Intelligence vs Emotions
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
Cultural values are related to the norms of a society, but they are more general and abstract than norms. Norms are rules for behavior in specific situations, while values identify what should be judged as good or bad. Flying the national flag on a national holiday is a norm, but it also reflects the value of patriotism. Wearing dark clothing and appearing solemn are normative behaviors at a funeral. They reflect the values of respect and support of friends and family.
Members of a society take part in a culture even if their personal values do not entirely agree with some of the normative values sanctioned in the culture. This reflects an individual's ability to synthesize and extract aspects valuable to him from the multiple subcultures he belongs to. As a wise member of a society, group or community, an individual can hold both a personal value system and a socio-cultural value system at the same time.
In case of serious conflicts, while ideally preference for the welfare and collective well-being of the community takes precedence over individual rights (personal values), in general, an emotionally mature person would try to maintain harmony and choose a balanced path to begin with. Similarly, for efficient management between self, family/society and professional duties, one needs to have emotional wisdom. But how does one attain a high EQ ? This is where spirituality plays a key role.
Spirituality, as explained by Pandit Shriram Sharma [3, 4] is an evolved, enlightened psychology and the preeminent science of life-management. He therefore envisaged and launched the Vichar Kranti Abhiyan (Thought-Revolution) in the light of scientific spirituality as an epochal movement of the present era. Here we outline ony some practicable guidelines derived from his teachings.
Key to Improvement of EQ :Daily self introspection to avoid mistakes, to overcome shortcomings of today and to resolve feasible plans for execution of something that improves self-behavior or action tomorrow — this simple practice of ten minutes before sleep and five minutes before leaving the bed works like effective autosuggestion. It induces courage, self-confidence and emotional stability with gradually increasing impact. Yoga-practices of prañayama and meditation lend essential support for calming of mind. Balanced diet, physical exercises and self-restraint ( swayam ) are prerequisite for best effects. Emotional depth and enlightenment are then achieved through sincere practice of Upasana – inculcation of sensitivity and invocation of divine thoughts and qualities hidden in the inner self by heart-felt prayers, meditative practices andSadhana – refinement of thoughts and deeds, self-transformation by self-determination in light of the teachings of spiritually illumined sages, and noble works of great personalities. Aradhana – admiring and beautifying God’s creation by helping the needy and making thoughtful use of time, talent and resources with a cheerful and caring attitude for uplifting of more and more people.

Emotions – II ; Pujya Gurudev

Intelligence vs Emotions
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
Personal values:Personal values evolve from interaction with the external world and can change over time.Integrity in the application of values refers to its continuity; persons have integrity if they apply their values appropriately regardless of arguments or negative reinforcement from others. Values are applied appropriately when they are applied in the right area. For example, it would be appropriate to apply religious values in times of happiness as well as in times of despair. One’s samskaras (and hence his/her genes), circumstances and experiences influence one’s personal value system but this fact is universal that one’s personal values, integrity and emotional intelligence are mutually dependent. For example, if one respects personal values of others and reacts prudently, it indicates his dignity of emotional maturity. Love, care, courage, bravery, integrity and compassion are examples of universal emotional-values associated with high emotional intelligence.
Cultural values:Families, groups, societies, have values that are largely shared by their members. These values are derived from what could be broadly termed as the prevalent cultural values . The values identify those objects, conditions or characteristics that members of the society consider important; that is, valuable. In the United States, for example, values might include material comfort, wealth, competition, individualism or religiosity. These values are sort of ‘measures’ that convey to the members of a society how people should be and how society should be.
The superficial values of a society can often be influenced by economic, political and social developments or, as per the modern trends, noting which people receive honor or respect. In the US, for example, professional athletes are more highly honored than college teachers, in part because the society values physical activity and competitiveness more than mental activity and education. The scenario is quite different in the Indian society, where religious faith on the one hand and media supported popularity of film actors and cricketers on the other might steal the show. The implicit core or foundational values, on the contrary, have strong rooting in emotional nature and these values do not deviate even in tumulous tides of change. For example, belief in God is a core value of the American society and it is also a predominant foundational value of Indian Culture.

Emotions – II ; Pujya Gurudev

Intelligence vs Emotions
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
Emotional Maturity, Values and Spirituality:It is well known that emotions trigger impulse to act and the tendency to act is implicit in every emotion. Seven prime emotions, namely anger, fear, happiness, love, surprise, disgust, and, sadness – each prepares the body and also the rational (or so called ‘intelligent’ mind) for a different kind of response. Emotions guide us to face danger, painful loss, perseverance, bonding with a mate; building a family, etc. In short, emotions are the core of our sensitivity as human beings.
However, emotional excitement, be that of any kind, is undesirable. For example, emotional explosion leads to brutal crimes; excessive sorrow puts one into depression; laughter due to over-joy is also an explosion of emotions and may lead to emergencies. Growing violence, selfishness, meanness of spirit and deterioration of other factors affecting personal and social values have intensified the need for improved Emotional Intelligence of the common man today.
Emotional Intelligence [2] pertains to self-control, zeal and persistence, the ability to motivate oneself, one’s character, sentiments and moral instincts. Prime sign of emotional wisdom is emotional honesty: being real and true to self. It builds personal power, awareness, inner guidance, respect, responsibilities and connection. Emotional fitness implies being clear and getting along with circumstances and people under different circumstances. This is why it is so important in personal and professional management. Its immediate benefits include authenticity and hence social respect, resilience without compromising with values, ability of constructive discontent, initiation and renewal of trusting relationships .
Emotional Depth enables knowing one’s own emotions and controlling them, recognizing emotions in others and controlling them. It is therefore referred as ‘ reaching down and stepping up’. It builds core character, potential, integrity, purpose, influence without authority, applied integrity, commitment, unique and high purpose, self-motivated evolution.
What is rightly termed by modern thinkers [2] as emotional alchemy includes sensing opportunity, competing for future, (in a righteous way?), opportunity sensing, creating suitable future, ability of natural situational transformation, reflective time-shifting, and adaptive decision making (Fluid Intelligence). Further advancement of EI arises with spiritual refinement and endows one with the faculties of emotional feedback based intuition, emotional intuition, intuitive emotional energy, intuitive flow, intuitive innovation, and intuitive intelligence.
Self-inspired adoption of ethical norms, transmutation of personal value system and expansion of social values for the welfare of all are successive outcomes of progress in emotional intelligence.

Emotions – II; Pujya Gurudev

Intelligence vs Emotions
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
Let us now look into some deeper aspects of their interdependence, genesis and evolution.Natural Cause of Emotions, Thoughts & Intelligence:Thoughts are most powerful expressions of intelligence and emotions and are also the natural links be tween the two. Propositions of spiritual insights that are now accepted by the modern psychology as well underline the importance of thoughts — One is formed and molded by one’s thoughts.
But they also remark that “Thought is a natural process not necessarily related to one’s deliberate act or the character or value of the act” and that. “All teaching is a revealing via the usual agency of the world and its perception. All becoming is an unfolding. Nothing can be taught to the mind, which is not already concealed as potential knowledge in the unfolding soul of the creature”.
A natural quest then arises – Why the knowledge hidden in the folds of mind, or the unbounded intelligence of the soul is not expressed or manifested in the thoughts and actions of every one, every time? Why is there a need for any training, education, value-system, etc?
The advaita principle of Vedanta Philosophy and the Upanishads (anicent Indian scriptures) provide the answer. The gist of this is – Each being is a manifestation of the Braham (eternal, omnipresent, omniscient Consciousness Force). The enormous diversity among different people or beings is because of the intrinsic impressions ( samskaras ) of the individual self in earlier life-forms. Samskaras form the emotional trait and tendencies of mind and are also responsible for the intrinsic desires of the individual self. Intrinsic desires as per the activated mental tendency trigger corresponding emotions and then thoughts and actions in succession[1] . Spiritual practices deal with purification and control of the samskaras . Disciplines of value system, rational educational training, etc are meant for controlled orientation of the emotions, thoughts and actions triggered by them.
As emotions are intimate and easily experienced reflections of our samskaras (intrinsic being), these play key role in our spiritual endeavors, adoption of value system and molding of our thoughts and actions.

Emotions – II ; Pujya Gurudev

Intelligence vs Emotions
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
We can see that EQ and IQare not opposing competencies but rather separate and complementary.Comparative qualities corresponding to each are quite well known: High IQ person is productive, introvert, cautiously expressive, ambitious and detached. He is expert, talented and logical. He may be an efficient professional, executive, academician or scientist. High EQ person is cheerful,
socially - poised, committed, methodical, ethical, sympathetic, and has spontaneity and a power to cope with uncertainties. He is a great manager and leader in his chosen field of work.In practical terms, high IQ helps in fast placement whereas high EQ is necessary for top-level promotions, spontaneous inner satisfactions. It offers the key to fare better in life. Surprisingly excellent performance of many people with modest IQ in the corporate sector is the best illustration of this fact.
Rational mind is aware and thoughtful. Emotional mind is impulsive and powerful. Intuitive vision and its expression, creativity, long term planning, civilization and culture are possible through combined function of both. Education pertains to art of grasping, self-awareness, self-expression, control and cooperation, it can nurture intelligence and give directions to emotional balance but it cannot generate or mold either.
Narrow view of IQ in the early days of scientific development argued that – IQ is a genetic characteristic that cannot be changed by life experience. It would have been true if man were only a genetically governed machine. But, this confines only to the physical body and biological activities of a person. The brain functions, including hormonal secretions and activation of specific centers in the rational and emotional lobes are, as the modern research shows, natural manifestations and not originators of emotional and mental states. Then what originates, relates and evolves intelligence and emotions?

Amrit Chintan : Pujya Gurudev

Amrit Chintan

Self-confidence is the key to success
Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya
If you consider someone as happy and successful, then closely study the course of his life. If possible, ask him directly – ‘Have you never encountered any problems in your life?’ Then you will know that peace and prosperity have not been showered on him randomly from the sky. His life has also been tested and tried by difficulties and problems as yours is being tested now.
When you realize this truth, again try to investigate – ‘Who liberated him from that web of distress?’ Did any magician come and wave his magic wand and all his problems vanished? On exploring deeply, you will find that it is his self-confidence that has been mainly helpful in overcoming the problems. When all the near and dear ones had left him alone, it was this self-confidence that assured him that there was hope and inspired him to resolutely go on trying against all odds.
Believe me! Your present problems are the result of your lack of will and self-confidence. You have accepted defeat without fight. You have developed a negative attitude that you cannot do anything; you cannot overcome the distress. You are finding darkness all around. There is no one to show you the light; there seems no way for you to get rid of the suffering. Now awaken your self-confidence, and with an optimistic attitude evaluate the resources at hand, though they might appear relatively meager, and try to utilize them to solve your problems. Within a short time you will find that the circumstances have started changing for the better; the hopelessness has turned into hope and failure has started turning into success.

Shiv Sharma

Some Thoughts on Religion and Spirituality
- Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya
  • Spirituality is the science of consciousness; and religion is the art of living.
  • Spirituality is the ‘knowledge’ aspect of creation; and religion is the ‘activity’ aspect of it.
  • Spirituality is idealism; and religion is the method of imbibing it in real life.
  • Spirituality leads to self-realization; and religion shows the way to attain it.
  • The focus of spirituality is the Supreme Spirit; and that of religion is the individual soul.
  • Religion is the sadhana (ritualistic modes / methods / traditions) of uplifting the human consciousness. The ultimate aim of all the methods of sadhana is same.
  • Religion is a sky which is open to all to fly in their own way irrespective of caste, color, creed, nationality, etc.
Those, who know the essence of spirituality and follow the righteous path of religion, are sure to achieve the boons of peace and prosperity at the individual level; and contribute to social harmony at large.

Pranic Energy VIII ; Pujya Grudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
He participated in a Step-and-Jump competition in 1896 and won it. Surprisingly he had never undergone any professional training or practice in athletics. Facing lot of difficulties, through his own efforts and the demonstration of his capabilities, he was able to get a place in the official team of his country. All he had was a strong inclination towards athletics and an inner zeal. After winning the Olympic award he simply said that it was a pleasant coincidence that his dearest hobby (of running) since childhood got a boosting chance that day.
Thirty-eight years old Joe Giradley had made news in England around the year 1818 because of her fireproof body. During one of the demonstrations, she put some nitric acid in her mouth for few minutes without feeling any burning sensation. When she spat it out on an iron sheet, people could see the flames of fire leaping out of the iron sheet. In a similar show, she easily gulped boiling oil; not only that, when she spat out the boiling oil after holding it in her mouth for some time, the oil was still extremely warm. She could keep melting wax in her mouth and even sealed her lips with it.
What is more, she converted hot, melting zinc into a smooth coin by chewing it for some time! Joe was born in Italy. Since childhood she used to jump on red-hot iron grids; could even lick them without getting any wound or blister on her tongue; used to tattoo her body by a burning stick and even tried to burn her hair several times. She was able to mold heated iron rods in any desired shape by hitting them with her feet. In some instances she had kept her hands on the flames of eight candles in such a position that flames could pass through in between her fingers. Although smoke would blacken her fingers, there were no signs of burns anywhere. Investigations showed when her skin was touched with hot metal rod there were no signs of reddishness or wounds.
That means there was some insulating aura that kept the heat or fire away from her skin and tissues! According to Joe herself, she had several times entered fire with pieces of flesh in her hand. The flesh pieces would be charred but she would come out without any burn marks on her body. These are some factual instances of the supernormal physical effects of higher pranic energy. Its expressions in the mental domains are more astonishing. We shall look at them in some more articles in future. What we should note here is that the super-energy of prana is present in all of us but mostly remains dormant and underutilized. We all can protect and enhance the potency of our pranic energy through strong will and steadfast dedicated endeavors.

Pranic Energy -VII ; Pujya Gurudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
The ailing part of the patient's body used to be covered and gently pressed by the Scarf, Apron or other clothing of the great departed-soul. In order to protect the sacred belongings (which are supposed to have absorbed the subtle radiation of the elevated prana of the great souls), these began to be kept in special Churches and Cathedrals rather than in the graves.
The sacred remains of the body of Saint Stephen have been known to offer miraculous healing effects. The remains of several religious sages and saints of later times are also said to be used for such miraculous effects. The crown of thorn, kept on the sacred head of Jesus Christ at the time of crucification, is worshipped for its healing effects. Touching it with deep and intense fervor is supposed to remove all ailments and pains. Many of the sacred graves of saints have become monuments of tribute (samadhis).
Hundreds of patients are said to have been cured by spending one or two nights in their proximity with devout faith. All these are the effects of the concentrated aura of the prana of the angelic, saintly souls, which, unless weakened by the sinful acts in the surroundings, remains alive and effective long after they have left the physical body.
The awakened radiance of prana in a person is the source of his exceptional strength and extraordinary talents. Even with an ordinary physique and insignificant education, people endowed with the awakened energy of this life-spark often accomplish miraculous feats. The radiance and greatness of one's personality depends upon the grandeur of his prana.
The enhanced level of pranic energy plays wonders wherever and in whichever area of life it is applied. The following examples are quite interesting and peculiar in this regard. John Miller of Amstamize lived a healthy life for 124 years. He married several women. His last marriage was with an eighteen years old girl when he himself was about eighty years old. He had ten children from that marriage. Moreover, his silver white hair had begun to grow black few years before his death.
A Chinese farmer of the state of Zhiyangi had to face the ordeal of getting childhood teeth again at the age of 101 years. Bearing all the pain he finally got sixteen fresh teeth in the lower jaw and eleven in the upper. This unbelievable news was published in the Chinese daily "Venhu Vhao" a few decades ago.
Maxis was a celebrity weightlifter of Germany. His own body-weight was about 147 pounds. In one of his shows, a man of 187 pounds (forty pounds heavier than Maxis!) sat on one of his hands; Maxis stood up with this weight and lifted this hand up above his own head about sixteen times, while holding a glass full of water in the other hand. The water in the glass remained still, demonstrating that there was no external force to pull his hand upwards. James Bean Colloney was the first American athlete to win the Olympic medal. (Countinue)

Pranic Energy VI ; Pujya Gurudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
The compounded power thus generated can also alter the inter- and the intra cellular communication and cure the ailments of the body and enhance its vitality and resistance; if motivated and focused at an external aim, this could also be used to send the mental signals or waves of prana to the target for the desired effects. Treatment of incurable diseases and undiagnosed complications by spiritual healing has been quite common for the saints across the globe. It is said about Saint Macarius, who used to live in the deserts of Egypt around the fourth century A.D., that he used to cure severe diseases including psychological abnormalities by the mere touch of his hand.
Once a young man was brought to him with a complaint of some 'ghost problem'. He just kept one hand on the head and one on the chest of the patient and started praying in silence. The young man's body started inflating gradually and almost started floating in the air. Then suddenly he screamed and vomited some watery substances. With this, he was completely cured and became normal. Similar examples of spiritual healing are known about the power of the prayers and blessings of Saint Augustine, Saint Andrews of Milan, Saint Martin of France, etc. This healing gift of saints has continued over the centuries and has also helped retain people's faith and reverence towards religion. Saint Francis and Saint Bernard are among the honored saints of this tradition in the twelfth century A.D.
The names of Saint Catherine in the fourteenth century and Saint Francis Xavier in the sixteenth century are immortal in this glorious list of spiritual healers, who relieved the sufferers from dreaded diseases. George Fox, the founder of the "Society of Friends" in the seventeenth century A.D., also treated a large number of people in England through this sublime healing power. His experiences of spiritual healing and different types of cases cured by him are reported in his unpublished thesis entitled "Book of Miracles". Since the time of Saint Paul, the clothes of great saints, spiritual masters and the enlightened martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for noble aims and welfare of others, were used after their death for the purpose of spiritual treatment of severe patients. (Countinue)

Pranic Energy -V ; Pujya Gurudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
The sound waves of what we speak are spread in the ocean of the etheric element in the cosmic space. Their flow and impact is insignificant in the normal course. But, if amplified and converted by electrical energy, the same sonic waves would expand with greater force. A radio set catches these waves in the frequency range compatible with its crystal and broadcasts the filtered sound waves, which can be heard at long distances. The conversion of specific sound waves into amplified electromagnetic waves and re-conversion into original sound becomes possible with the help of electricity. In the sublime processes of telepathy and spiritual healing, this mediating (connecting) role is played by the pranic electricity of the human mind.
We usually conceptualize and experience the mind as a distinct subtle unit embedded in the body but that is not the case. Scientifically speaking, every cell in the body has its own subtle 'mind' (pranic core). The ensemble of all these collectively constitute our (total) mind. Every component, every unit of the body has its own domain of independent and interactive activities but each is under the overall control of the mind. For instance, suppose the cells in the genitals secrete the biochemicals that participate in sexual arousal and reactions. But if the (total) mind does not desire to have this excitation at that moment then it would stop the secretions instantly and pacify the concupiscence.
Every individual organ or subsystem in the body often expresses its own will but the total mind adjusts and governs it for the overall regulation and follow-up of its own (collective) will. It suppresses the activities that are against its present conditioning and the current state of the entire system and supports or accelerates the ones in concordance. As mind is not a single unit, rather, a collectivity of the individual impulses of the subtle 'minds' of the many units, it is referred to in the spiritual literature as Manomaya Kosha (the mind sheath of consciousness). In the state of complete coherence and consonance of all the individual units of the mind and the anya pranas with the total mind, the power of the mind is amplified to magnificent levels; it creates wonders in any direction it is focused on.
Because of the concentrated force of pranic energy, when the conscious mind is engrossed at a specific point with inner determination, all the components of the brain at the organ, cellular and subtler levels work in complete harmony under focused mental control.

Pranic Energy -III ; Pujya Gurudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
When the mind is engrossed in deep thinking then all the anya pranas are also absorbed with it in that process. When the eyes are focused on something then the anya pranas also do the same. Similarly, when something is being thoroughly expressed verbally then all the (currents of) pranas are linked with the voice. All the anya pranas are synchronicity with every function of the (principal) prana.
The above quote implies the predominant role of prana in mental functions. The mental concentration and the intensity of the spiritual force of prana create majestic compounded effects and enhance the corresponding faculty or function in gigantic proportions. The human body is like a grand powerhouse.
From head to toe, the interconnected efferent and afferent nerves circumvent every millimeter of its structure. Dr. Brown, a noted neuro-physiologist of yester years, had once remarked in a popular talk that the amount of electrical power consumed in the daily functioning of the human body and mind is so much that it would be sufficient to run a big factory for the same duration of time. The electricity in the body of a small child alone would be sufficient to run an engine of a train. Neuroscientist Dr. Karl Leisley has demonstrated that the electrical stimulation of certain portions of the brain could activate specific memory of specific time period of the past.
Dr. Roger Sperry of the California Institute of Technology has successfully experimented on certain electrically stimulated centers in the brain to help in weeding out some inclinations and accumulated habits and substituting new behavior patterns.
Dr. Holger Hoyden of Sweden has shown that in certain cases, variation in the Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) helps varying the conscious activities (bioelectricity) of the brain. The currents of prana are of significant importance in Spiritual Healing. Before we elucidate this point, it would be necessary to consider the power of mind in the living body. Every radio set has a special crystal transistor to catch the radio signals of a specific frequency range. With respect to the transmission and reception of the waves of spiritual energy, our mind plays the role of this crystal in our body.

Pranic Energy -II ; Pujya Gurudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
he spiritual masters of the esoteric knowledge of the science of prana transmit their pranic energy into the deserving disciples and thus enlighten and empower their personalities with exceptional potentials. In the ancient times, people used to go with serene faith to the holy ashrams (hermitages) of the rishis and benefit from their blessings and the pranic energy pervading around them. The shaktipata (transmission of the spiritually elevated prana of a guru) bestowed by a noble guru upon his deserving disciple used to transform the latter's personality into a remarkably brilliant, sagacious, vigorous and talented one. The radiant spiritual transmutation of Aruni blessed by Rishi Dhaumya, of Jabali by Rishi Gautam, Arjuna by Lord Indra and Nachiketa by Lord Yama, are well known examples of shaktipata cited in the scriptures.
This noble tradition was followed by the sages of the later ages too. The shaktipata bestowed by Paramhansa Ramakrishna upon Narendra transformed the latter into the globally revered Swami Vivekanand. Sister Nivedita and several other disciples of Swamiji later on received his pranic energy by a similar process. Maharshi Sri Aurobindo had invited the Mother Mirra Alfassa of France through telepathic signals of his prana sent from India while she was living in Paris. She then became aware of the spiritual light of her great soul and came to the Maharshi's Ashram. Sri Aurobindo endowed her with a deep knowledge of yoga and Indian Philosophy, along with the divine radiance of his spiritual attainments.
It is said with reference to the epic "Ramayana" that when Lord Ram was living in exile in the forest, with Sita and Lakshman, the latter used to transmit the message of their well-being and specific news of the week to his wife Urmila with the help of his transmuted pranic energy. Thousands of kilometers away, Urmila used to receive it in a state of meditation and then used to convey the message verbally to the other family members. Thus, without having any wireless, radio set or telephonic facility, they were able to communicate quite easily.
An episode in the Puranas describes the angelic pranic force of Sati Anusuiya. Once the Gods Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh went to her Ashram to test the spiritual strength of her piety. They reached the Ashram in the form of little children when her husband Rishi Atri was away. But the aura of her pranic energy instantly experienced their divine glow and she made no mistake in recognizing the Gods. Prince Pratardan, the son of King Divoda, had once offered his dedicated services to Lord Indra. In recognition of his worthiness and piety of the purpose, the deity taught him Prana Vidya- the deep science of prana. He preached - "Prana is Brahm. The great rishis and yogis awaken it in their inner selves and use it for the welfare of the entire world".
In the second chapter of the Kaupitaki Brahmanopanishad, the secret of telepathic communication via pranic energy is described as under –
"Atha Khalu Sa Detmevoktha Mupasita | Yo Vai Pranah Sa Prajna Ma Va Prajna Sa Pranah| Sa Yada Pratibuddhate Sthaagnervisphulinga | Vipratithante Pranebhyo Devebhyo Loka ||"
Meaning: (Different currents of prana, responsible for different faculties of the sense-organs, are referred as "anya prana" here.)

Pranic Energy ; Pujya Gurudev

The Amazing Potentials of Pranic Energy
=Pt.ShriRam Sharma Acharya
At a superficial level blood appears to be the principal regulator of the activities of the body and the internal body functions. If we look a little deeper at physiological, cellular and molecular levels, we find that the enormous functions of the body are run with the help of a specific bio-electrical energy, which is generated in the brain and supplied to all the parts and organs of the body through a fine network of nerves. This source of energy is as vital for the sustenance of the vivid activities of the body as the dynamo-battery for a motor. Under this analogy, blood is like petrol and bioelectricity is like the electrical energy of the motor (of the body system).
A continuous supply and distribution of both together advance the flow of life. The body-electricity is different from the electricity that we see being used around us in a variety of domestic machines and technological gadgets. The bio-electricity flowing in the brain and the entire body, which makes the uncountable physiological and bio-chemical and physical functions possible, is a manifestation of pranic energy. The prana1 indwelling in our body is a fraction of the eternal, cosmic prana.
The active presence of this pranic energy in the body could be enhanced by mental and vital strength. Focused willpower and determined efforts enable outstanding performance of sportsmen, wonders of skilled talents, adventurous expeditions, etc. In a similar way, adept yoga-sadhanas effectuate a significant rise in the pranic electricity level at will. The enhanced level of prana also arouses the will power and the external and internal vigor of the sadhaka. The power of a small battery or dry cell is a tiny fraction of the enormous electrical power that could be produced in a grand powerhouse
A battery can be used for lighting a torch or for equivalent small jobs. But, if we need to run a big machine in a factory or lighten up a city, a huge power generator would be essential. Similarly, the ordinary level of prana may be sufficient for the sustenance of the routine physiological, metabolic and other normal functions of the body. It would be substantial for one's life if it simply revolves around eating, sleeping and reproducing. Should we require elevation from this animal nature of our life, we would need to elevate, protect and creatively channelize our pranic energy. Still higher presence of the cosmic prana would be required for still greater, august purposes. Specific kinds of yoga-sadhanas are needed to attain the desired charging of pranic energy as per the specific aim.
